Kmart are modernising and optimising our end-to-end supply chain systems and operations to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, deliver a safer working environment for our team and faster delivery of products that delight our customers to nearly 500 stores throughout Australia and New Zealand. We are creating the next generation of retail supply chain technology with be a focus across our warehouse management, transport/logistics, inventory optimisation, and demand and forecasting systems.   

 

We are seeking an experienced Lead QA Engineer to lead our quality assurance efforts for Manhattan WMS and integration testing. In this role, you will manage and execute comprehensive testing strategies for Manhattan Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ensure seamless integration with other systems and applications. As the Lead QA Engineer, you will oversee a team of QA Engineers, mentor junior team members, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality delivery of solutions. Your expertise in both functional and automated testing within a warehouse management and integration environment will be critical to the success of the project.

 

What you’ll be doing

 

  • Lead the QA team in planning, designing, and executing test strategies for Manhattan WMS applications and their integrations with other enterprise systems
  • Ensure comprehensive test coverage across all modules of the WMS (inbound, outbound, inventory management, sortation, appointments, yard management, etc) and integration points (e.g., APIs, files transfers, web services, databases, third party systems etc)
  • Act as the primary point of contact for QA-related activities and decisions for the WMS and integration testing
  • Collaborate with business analysts, developers, and product managers to ensure quality requirements are understood and implemented in the testing process
  • Manage and mentor a team of QA Engineers, providing guidance on test case creation, execution, and reporting
  • Ensure the team follows best practices for test automation, manual testing, and performance testing
  • Conduct regular meetings with the QA team to discuss progress, challenges, and improvement opportunities
  • Develop comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts for functional, integration, regression, and performance testing for Manhattan WMS
  • Validate the integration between Manhattan Active WMS and other enterprise systems (e.g., ERP, OMS, sorter automation etc.)
  • Perform integration testing to validate seamless data flow and system interactions
  • Lead the development and implementation of automated tests for integration points and WMS modules
  • Integrate automated tests into continuous integration (CI) pipelines to support frequent releases and early defect detection
  • Leverage tools such as Karate, Selenium, Postman, JUnit, or other relevant testing frameworks for automation
  • Identify opportunities to improve test automation coverage, efficiency, and reliability
  • Identify, document, and prioritize defects, working closely with developers to ensure timely resolution
  • Provide regular status reports to stakeholders, including progress on testing activities, test results, and quality metrics
  • Oversee performance, load, and stress testing efforts to ensure the WMS and integrated systems meet scalability and reliability requirements
  • Continuously evaluate and improve the QA processes, methodologies, and tools to enhance testing quality, efficiency, and scalability
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to best practices for testability, performance, and maintainability of testing frameworks
     

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

 

  • 10+ years of experience in Quality Assurance with significant experience in Manhattan WMS or other warehouse management systems and integration space
  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role within QA
  • Deep understanding of Manhattan Active WMS, its modules (inbound, outbound, inventory management, sortation, appointments, yard management, etc), and integration points with other enterprise systems (e.g., ERP, TMS, OMS).
  • Strong expertise in integration testing and validating interactions between different software systems (APIs, third-party applications, databases, Kafka, Google pub-sub).
  • Hands-on experience with test automation tools (e.g., Karate, Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, Postman, or equivalent) and ability to lead automation efforts.
  • Solid experience in CI/CD pipelines, including integration of automated tests into Jenkins, GitLab, or other CI tools.
  • Experience with performance and load testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner) and understanding of how to ensure scalability in warehouse systems.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and ability to work in a fast-paced, iterative development environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present clear test status reports to stakeholders
  • Familiarity with service virtualization and mocking tools for integration testing. Knowledge of cloud-based systems (AWS, Azure) and testing in cloud environments
  • Strong leadership abilities with a focus on team mentorship, coaching, and development
  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for delivering high-quality software solutions
