Join the team
Reporting to the National Safety Manager, you will have overall responsibility for supporting the operations team implement our safety management system across Kmart and Target stores in NSW and ACT. You will provide strategic, technical, and functional expertise related to safety management including onsite coaching to all operational teams, whilst supporting manage serious incidents and regulator interaction.
The Safety agenda is of extreme importance to us, and you will be joining a strong, newly blended team that’s focused on embedding and driving a ‘safety first’ culture in a highly collaborative environment.
What you’ll be doing
As a State Safety Manager, you will be:
- Partnering with NSW and ACT Operational Managers to achieve continuous improvement in safety performance and results.
- Designing and leading the safety strategy for NSW and ACT stores, in line with national strategy
- Undertaking self-insurance audits to maintain Wesfarmers Self Insurance License pertaining to state specific stores
- Conducting onsite investigations and ensuring compliance to legislation and safety management system requirements
- Ongoing monitoring of site incidents, injuries and trends
- Conducting regular site visits, undertaking risk assessments and making proactive recommendations to strengthen safety practices.
- Analysing data and working collaboratively to ensure a nationally consistent approach to identifying and managing overall safety risks.
To be successful in this role you’ll have:
- A Diploma in Workplace Health & Safety
- Enjoy working in a fast paced business that thrives on continuously improving and developing strong relationships
- Knowledge of state-specific WHS Legislation
- Sound knowledge of ISO45001 and legislative provisions around duty of care and reasonably practicable
- Relevant experience dealing with safety regulators, notifiable incidents and navigating the incident management process
- Critical Risk experience (preferred)
- ICAM (Incident Cause Assessment Methodology) experience (preferred – training can be provided)
