As we continue to cultivate our workplace culture, we are seeking a skilled and motivated People & Capability Business Partner to join our high performing team to provide exceptional business partnering to the Zone Managers and State Managers within in their dedicated portfolio. 

 

The Qld People and Capability team is led by an open, transparent, and supportive leader (State P&C Manager, based in Brisbane), who leads an experienced, capable, and dynamic team of four P&C Business Partners who are all based in the Brisbane area. This team supports both Kmart and Target stores across Qld from Northern NSW to North Qld, allowing fantastic exposure to two iconic Australian businesses. The State are split into 7 Zones and each People & Capability Business Partner supporting 1-2 Zones (15-30 stores).

 

As a People & Capability Business Partner at Kmart and Target, you will play a pivotal role in aligning P&C strategies and business objectives. You will collaborate closely with zone and store managers to provide comprehensive P&C support, enabling our organisation to thrive and achieve its goals. This role involves a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on implementation, making it an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys both high level planning and direct engagement with team members. In this dynamic role, you will be constantly on the move, visiting stores in your Zone and working alongside our store teams. Zones include regional stores and therefore regular travel within Qld for 1-3 nights at a time, as well as travel to Melbourne approximately 2 times per year is required. As a State People & Capability Business Partner, you will be the on the ground support for approximately 15 stores and most of your time will be spent in stores. Approximately 1-2 days a fortnight can be worked from home pending store and team needs. This is a challenging and rewarding role suited to someone who likes fast paced and high-volume environments.

 

 

What you’ll be doing

 

As a People & Capability Business Partner working for Kmart and Target you will:  

        

  • Deliver the key people cyclical activities to a high standard, which include, talent reviews, succession planning, performance reviews, the annual remuneration review and engagement survey’s.
  • Work on and implement key projects that support the broader people plan.
  • Support recruitment across the state including the employment of people with disability, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, to support Kmart and Target’s diversity and inclusion strategy.
  • Conduct workplace investigations and provide advice on people matters to the store teams and Zone Managers.
  • Work collaboratively with our state support teams and national office teams, such as Safety, People Advisory, Payroll, L&C, Talent and Engagement and many more!
  • Be an effective and positive change agent, who continually champions making Kmart and Target a great place to work that is simple to run, to make everyday living brighter for our team and customers
  • Manage Zone headcount and succession planning (approximately 100 Managers per Zone), identifying and developing upcoming talent and supporting new to role Managers and Managers in Training.
  • Drive team member engagement initiatives and support our twice yearly engagement survey.

 

 

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

 

  • Three or more years’ experience in a generalist HR role
  • The ability to collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders and build rapport quickly
  • The ability to work at a fast pace and juggle multiple priorities
  • Experience in facilitating face-to-face learning sessions to increase team member capability
  • Capacity to travel in order to support your aligned Zones
  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
