Reporting to the SEO Manager, the SEO Specialist will play a key role in developing, implementing, and managing our SEO strategies to enhance our online presence and drive organic traffic to our website. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong analytical mindset, proficiency in technical SEO, content optimisation and a passion for staying ahead of industry trends.

 

This highly collaboratively role will require exceptional stakeholder management across cross functional teams within the business. The SEO specialist also supports the Digital performance team in maximising the power of performance marketing - Paid Search, Social etc, with organic search efforts.  As an expert in SEO, they will also provide SEO optimised content and technical guidance to both online and marketing teams and works very closely with agencies to drive greater online performance.

 

What you’ll be doing

 

  • Review of current SEO content and framework on kmart.com.au and kmart.com.nz to develop a sustainable SEO content plan to amplify current content and to innovate future content creations.

  • Develop SEO optimised content on kmart.com.au and kmart.com.nz to maximise our content performance to ensure higher page ranks and searchability.

  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other relevant programming languages. Experience with content management and knowledge of web development frameworks is highly desirable.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data from tools like Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush and other SEO auditing tools. Experience in analysing website performance metrics and identifying areas for improvement is essential.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose technical SEO issues and recommend effective solutions. Experience in troubleshooting crawl errors, duplicate content issues, and website indexing problems.

  • Perform on-page and off-page SEO optimisation, including meta tags, URL structure, internal linking, and backlink acquisition.

  • Collaborate with the SEO Manager to develop and execute comprehensive SEO strategies to increase organic traffic, improve search engine rankings, and enhance online visibility.

  • Conduct keyword research and analysis to identify target keywords and optimise website content accordingly.

  • Guide the marketing team, Merchandise, and online team on tactical SEO content and top search recommendations to support product launches, campaigns, content marketing.

  • Work closely with content creators, web developers, and UX designer to ensure SEO best practices are integrated into website content and design.

  • Provide regular SEO performance reports and insights to the SEO Manager and the Head of Digital Performance highlighting key metrics, trends, and recommendations for optimisation.

  • Drive continuous improvement in SEO performance through ongoing testing, experimentation, and optimisation.

  • Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, algorithm updates, and best practices in SEO and search engine marketing.

 

To be successful in this team you will have:

 

  • Proven Experience: At least 3+ years of hands-on experience in technical SEO roles, with a track record of successful optimisation projects and measurable results.

  • Deep Understanding of SEO Principles - Comprehensive knowledge of technical SEO best practices, including but not limited to website architecture, crawlability, indexability, site speed optimization, schema markup, and canonicalization.

  • Strong understanding of SEO content optimisation and content marketing.

  • Proficiency in SEO tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Moz, Ahrefs, etc.

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data, draw insights, and make data-driven decisions.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.

  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Computer Science, or a related field is advantageous but not required.
