Are you an experienced Womenswear Technical Designer with a passion for women’s fashion? Join our collaborative team at Kmart and play a key role in leading the day-to-day operations of technical fit and prototype development within our apparel category. This is an exciting opportunity to provide high-level technical support and expertise as we embrace innovative 3D technology!
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the Apparel Technical Design Lead to address business-critical topics promptly.
- Partner with Design teams and Merchandising to develop Kmart products that align with production standards, aesthetics, and brand DNA.
- Liaise with KAS Product Technologists to facilitate the sample approval process.
- Assist in the development of prototype and production tech packs in collaboration with the Design team.
- Work with KAS 3D teams to create best-in-class patterns that support the Kmart Better Product Strategy.
To be successful in this role you’ll have (but not limited to):
An analytical, proactive and agile mindset and a genuine passion for retail. You should excel at sharing your technical expertise in apparel, always keeping the customer in mind, and building strong relationships with key stakeholders.
- Extensive hands-on experience in apparel product development, manufacturing processes, and supplier management.
- Experience in product development and approval within a retail or sourcing office.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Proven experience in fitting, sizing, and Tech Pack creation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Qualifications in Pattern Making, Pattern Grading, Garment Construction, or similar; experience in 3D pattern making is highly regarded.
- Proficiency in Illustrator, CAD drawing systems, Microsoft Office, and Product Lifecycle Management programs.
- Experience with womenswear, intimates, or childrenswear is a plus.
- We understand that not everyone may have experience with 3D technology, so we offer training and support to help you grow your skillset.
