As a Senior Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for leading a small team in managing all accounting obligations for Kmart Group. Our finance team are a highly capable and driven group, who are committed to supporting it's stakeholders by providing high quality financial data in a timely manner. The environment is busy, yet fun and heavily focused on learning opportunities! 

 

 

 

What you’ll be doing

 

As a Senior Financial Accountant working for Kmart, you will:    

 

  • Support the Finance Manager in delivering all accounting obligations for the Kmart group of companies, whilst supporting both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure all accounting policies, procedures and relevant group requirements are adhered to.
  • Creation and review of periodic financial reporting pack.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the business, supporting the preparation of insightful commentary & reporting.
  • Ensure key provisions are prepared, reviewed and monitored
  • Prepare and co-ordinate Wesfarmers group reporting requirements in a timely manner
  • Identify risks and opportunities for the business in a timely manner to enable mitigation of identified risks.

 

 

 

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

 

 

  • Ideally a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar capacity, either working in a corporate environment or within an accounting firm
  • A strong understanding of IFRS accounting principles and standards
  • Experience using Financial Systems (i.e. SAP), including accounting and general ledger experience
  • A proven ability to build relationships with stakeholders across all levels of an organisation, including the confidence to present and exert influence as needed
  • Led a team to success and genuinely enjoy leading and coaching teams
  • Ability to drive improvements, meet multiple competing deadlines and ensure high attention to detail 
  • Agility & eagerness to learn in an evolving and process improvement environment 
  • Tertiary qualifications in commerce or business, with accounting or finance majors.
  • Hold an CA or CPA qualification
