Join the team

As a Lead Engineer within our Order Management and Fulfilment team, you will be providing technical leadership in the design and engineering of our online order management and fulfilment applications. This includes integration with warehouse management and automation systems.  Optimising our online order fulfilment systems and operations enable us to deliver products that delight our online customers faster and more efficiently. 

 

You will be responsible leading the technology that will transform Kmart's online shopping capabilities and build the next generation of retail technology in Australia and New Zealand.

 

What you’ll be doing

  • Working in collaboration with Architects, Tech Lead and Engineering Manager to design, implement, and scale robust solutions for our online order management and fulfilment. 

  • Owning the overall Engineering design and its deliverables, including technical design, coding and testing. 

  • Providing technology thought leadership, driving technology practices across the team.  

  • Providing multiple technology solutions to the business, including technical estimates and specifications. 

  • Promoting DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and automated testing. 

  • Mentoring and guiding junior developers, sharing knowledge and promoting best practices.

 

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

  • Extensive experience in software development / DevOps roles. 

  • Demonstrated expertise in Typescript and hands-on experience building and deploying applications in AWS Environments. 

  • Strong background in DevOps – GitHub actions, Terraforms, etc. 

  • Ability to lead changes, provide complex technical management coordination with multiple vendors and colleagues. 

  • Ability to apply strategic and business lenses when assessing technologies and conceptualise multiple solutions to technical challenges. 

  • Familiarity of working in an Agile environment 

  • Background in retail, ecommerce or logistics is highly desirable.
