The Anko Global team manages the distribution of Anko product outside Australia and New Zealand and is directly supported by design, merchandise, sourcing and supply chain teams in Australia, India and China. You will be joining a team of passionate collaborators with an entrepreneurial mindset that are determined to drive rapid growth for the Anko Global business. This team are passionate about Anko products and partner strongly with the retailers they wholesale to.
 
This role works directly with international teams to determine both new and existing opportunities and actively design and build an assortment within toys to meet the needs of our global customers
 
 We’re looking for a driven and enthusiastic individual who has a real eye for opportunity! You love designing product, customers are always front of mind and building and managing relationships with a variety of key stakeholders is one of your strengths. This is a new and exciting role for the team so we’re looking for someone who has a true “design innovation mentality” along with strong commercial acumen.
 
We are looking for a talented Junior Designer to join our high-performing team. As a Junior Designer specializing in wooden toys, you will collaborate closely with the Senior Designer to conceptualize and develop future product ranges. Your responsibilities will include designing product concepts and creating comprehensive technical packs, ensuring our wooden toys are both engaging and safe for children. This role is pivotal in having a direct impact on the success of new product launches and sales growth in this category.
 
 
What you’ll be doing
 

  •  Concept Development-Generate innovative ideas for wooden toys that inspire and engage children, based on market research and emerging trends.
  •  Design Execution-Create detailed sketches, 3D models, and prototypes, ensuring designs are both aesthetically pleasing and functional.
  •  Technical Documentation-Develop comprehensive technical packs that include specifications, materials, and production details to guide the manufacturing process.
  •  Collaboration-Work closely with customers, the Senior Designer, and cross-functional teams—including engineering, marketing, and manufacturing—to ensure designs are feasible, safe, and align with brand standards.
  •  Trend Analysis-Stay informed about industry trends, consumer feedback, and competitor products to inform and refine design decisions.
  •  Safety and Compliance-Ensure all designs meet safety standards and regulatory requirements, particularly those specific to children's products.

 
To be successful in this role you’ll have:
 

  •   Bachelor’s degree in Design, Toy Design, or a related field.
  •   Previous experience in wholesale or retail product design, preferably within the toy industry.
  •   Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite and 3D modelling tools (Solidworks preferred).
  •   Strong sketching and prototyping skills.
  •   Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  •    A keen eye for detail and a passion for creating engaging children's products.
  •    Understanding of materials and manufacturing processes related to wooden products.
