Join the team
Reporting to the GM Property, you’ll lead a team of managers and specialists responsible for delivering best-in-class facilities management across our corporate offices and national store network. With accountability for a significant asset base and operating budget, you’ll drive operational excellence, energy performance, compliance, and supplier partnerships that enable Kmart to deliver an outstanding in-store experience.

What you’ll be doing
Â
- Lead the national facilities management function, ensuring safe, compliant, and reliable operations across stores and corporate offices.
- Develop and implement the national facilities maintenance plan, driving continuous improvement in service and cost efficiency.
- Oversee energy management and environmental performance, partnering with Sustainability to deliver on company targets.
- Manage key supplier and contractor relationships, ensuring compliance with legislative obligations and lease agreements.
- Provide financial oversight of circa $200 million of expenditure across Capital and Operating Expenditure budgets, and asset base of $1.6b.
- Support construction, fitout, and renewal programs, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with building standards.
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of managers and specialists, building capability and fostering a positive culture.
- Act as the key liaison with regulators, government contacts, and external partners on compliance and energy issues.

To be successful in this role you’ll have:
Â
- 10–15 years of experience in facilities management or property leadership roles, ideally in a retail environment.
- Bachelor’s degree or extensive industry experience in facilities management, engineering, or related discipline (trade qualifications in electrical/air-conditioning highly regarded).
- Strong knowledge of facilities maintenance systems, building compliance, and OH&S obligations.
- Proven experience managing large-scale budgets, contracts, and supplier relationships.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and negotiation skills, with the ability to partner across diverse stakeholders.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to balance operational delivery and long-term planning.
- Strong leadership capability—experienced in managing managers and fostering high-performance teams.
