We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Financial Accountant to join our team in a fixed term role. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a leading retailer and get exposure to the wider Wesfarmers business and our ways of working.
This is a fixed term contract role ending June 2nd 2026.
What you’ll be doing
- Support delivering monthly group reporting for Kmart Group.
- Ensuring all assigned journals, accruals, reconciliations and reports are prepared in accordance with the Wesfarmers group reporting requirements in a timely manner.
- IT cost center accounting, including month-end processing, budgeting and forecasting, and off-charging as required.
- Participate in project work, including implementation of strategic projects.
- Gain exposure to the preparation of half yearly statutory reporting deliverables, including impairment testing and key audit deliverables.
- Preparation of survey/statistics information and insurance renewal materials.
- Identify risks and opportunities for the business.
- Update projects, systems and policies as required.
To be successful in this role you’ll have:
- 2-3 years’ experience in a mid-large scale corporate business with a good understanding of accounting principles
- Experience with financial reporting
- Proficiency in the use of Financial Systems (i.e. SAP), including completing ledger reconciliations
- Professional accounting qualification (fully qualified - CA or CPA)
- Strong computer software skills, including advanced knowledge and use of Excel
- Ability to drive improvements and meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional customer focus
- Advanced problem solving and analytical skills
