The Employee Relations and Advisory team are a central hub of HR professionals who provide HR advice and support across both Kmart and Target. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in facilitating Employee Relations activities across the Division. This includes involvement in enterprise bargaining, spearheading ER projects, refining policies and processes, and representing the company in legal proceedings and advocacy efforts. What you’ll be doing

 

As an Employee Relations Advisor, you’ll: 
   

  • Support and implement employee strategies to support business plans and priorities, including supporting operational change initiatives and developing effective relationships with relevant external parties (e.g. employer associations, unions, government etc.)  

  • Support the Enterprise Agreement negotiation cycle across Kmart Group. 

  • Provide expert and practical advice and guidance on all relevant employee relations issues, including changes to employment related legislation and developments. 

  • Ensure the People & Capability team are provided with the required support to assist with the resolution of employee relations issues and cases, including investigation of complaints and representation before tribunals as required. 

  • Work collaboratively with the Employee Relations and Advisory team and People & Capability Business Partners to manage the development and implementation of training for line managers, in key Workplace Relations policies (e.g., Respect at work, performance management) 

  • Proactively support continuous improvement and compliance activities across the Division.  


To be successful in this role you’ll have:

 

  • A tertiary qualification in Employee Relations, Human Resources or Law. 

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role within a fast paced, high-volume environment, preferably within the retail industry.   

  • End-to-end experience in enterprise bargaining.

  • Experience in industrial disputes and advocacy in various tribunals. 

  • Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, strong ER drafting skills and an ability to work autonomously. 

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and negotiate with external parties and at all levels of the organisation.  

  • Competent knowledge of relevant industrial laws along with demonstrated ability to prioritise multiple competing demands and persuade and negotiate outcomes.
