Step into the role of a Commercial Analyst - Property where you’ll be the go-to expert to help assess the commercials of new stores, refits, and lease renewals. You'll have the opportunity to drive efficiency improvements across our processes, create innovative reporting tools and financial models to measure store performance, and play a key part in shaping the future of our business. You'll also construct thorough business cases for important initiatives and support their successful delivery, making a tangible impact on our strategic goals.
What you’ll be doing
As a Commercial Analyst working for Kmart and Target, you will:
- Work with the business to prepare and assess new store, refit and lease proposals including preparation of board papers for approval.
- Provide insights to improve the sales and profit of our store network.
- Prepare relevant reports to assess the performance of the property business unit.
- Collaborate with the business to prepare budgets and forecasts and analyse key drivers of variances within property, for both opex and capex.
- Assist with general reporting tasks, internally and externally.
- Provide commercial support to project teams and relevant business units for ad-hoc analysis, business case development and general queries as required.
To be successful in this role you’ll have:
- Problem-solving skills in a fast-paced and dynamic operating environment, using analytical and financial modelling skills to provide commercial advice.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar capacity, either in Retail or Property.
- A strong understanding of accounting principles and standards (financial modelling strongly regarded).
- Proficiency in using financial systems and tools (eg. SAP, TM1 Power BI, Microsoft Excel), preferably in a commercial environment.
- A proven ability to build relationships with stakeholders across all levels of an organisation, including the confidence to present and exert influence as needed.
- Ability to drive improvements, meet multiple competing deadlines and ensure high attention to detail.
- Tertiary qualifications in commerce or business, with accounting or finance majors.
