This newly created 12-month fixed term role as Chain of Responsibility Auditor, aims to focus on Kmart Group and contracted third-party provider’s compliance with the National Heavy Vehicle Regulations (NHVR).Â

The role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing an internal audit program focused on assessing the compliance of transport providers, distribution centres and stores with Heavy Vehicle National Law and Chain of Responsibility . This includes identifying risks, reporting findings, and supporting operational teams in implementing corrective actions. Â

What you’ll be doing
    Â
- Develop and maintain an audit program aligned with NHVAS and HVNL requirements.Â
- Schedule, prioritise and conduct audits based on risk and compliance history of transport providers, stores, and distribution centres.Â
- Prepare clear, evidence-based audit reports identifying non-conformances and recommend corrective actions.Â
- Train and upskill the existing audit team in CoR compliance assurance practices, ensuring consistent understanding and application of NHVR requirements across assurance activities.Â
- Complete audits efficiently, on time, and cost-effectively.Â
- Adapt to changing business needs and manage multiple engagements.Â
- Communicate audit findings clearly, following style and reference guidelines.Â
- Provide training on frequent audit findings and compliance expectations.Â
- Build strong relationships with third-party transport providers and internal stakeholders to enhance compliance and promote a culture of safety and accountability.Â

To be successful in this role you’ll have:
Â
- Demonstrated understanding and experience with Chain of Responsibility obligations and NHVR regulatory requirement compliance.Â
- Exposure to the National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme the relevant audit framework will be viewed favourably.Â
- Familiarity with internal control concepts, auditing standards, and risk assessment practices.Â
- Strong analytical skills and ability to make evidence-based decisions.Â
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Â
- Proactive and solutions focused nature, seeking to understand and help teams problem solve.Â
- Ability to drive improvements and meet deadlines.Â

- Exceptional customer mindset with a passion for collaboration. Â
- Ability and flexibility to travel nationally and/or to New Zealand, around 1 week per month.
