We have an opportunity for a Workplace Relations Compliance & Governance Program Manager to join the Kmart Group People & Capability function.

This newly created senior role is responsible for establishing and strengthening enterprise-wide workplace relations and pay compliance governance. The position provides oversight across compliance frameworks, monitoring, controls and assurance, working closely with Payroll, Workplace Relations, Operations, Workforce Planning, Risk and Technology.

You will play a key role in ensuring compliance obligations are clearly owned, consistently applied and sustainably embedded across the business, supporting both team member outcomes and organisational integrity.


What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will be accountable for the design, implementation and ongoing management of Kmart Group’s workplace relations and pay compliance governance.

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Developing and maintaining governance frameworks, including obligations registers, controls, RACIs and reporting aligned to Group risk standards.
  • Leading monitoring, audit and issue management activities, with a focus on root-cause analysis and sustainable remediation.
  • Partnering closely with Workplace Relations, Payroll, Workforce Planning, Operations, Risk and Technology to ensure clear compliance ownership and alignment.
  • Providing oversight of UKG Pro governance, including configuration integrity, change control and issue triage.
  • Leading and developing a specialist team, building capability, consistency and maturity in compliance practices.
  • Supporting leaders through education, guidance and clear compliance expectations.
  • Reporting on compliance risks, trends and outcomes to senior stakeholders and governance forums.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities to reduce risk, manual intervention and complexity.

 

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

  • Extensive experience in workplace relations and pay compliance within a large, complex organisation.
  • Strong working knowledge of Fair Work Act obligations, awards and enterprise agreements.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing and operating compliance governance frameworks and controls.
  • The ability to influence and partner effectively across senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience overseeing compliance controls enabled by payroll or workforce management systems, ideally UKG Pro.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with a focus on risk mitigation and long-term compliance.
  • A composed, pragmatic leadership style with the ability to build trust, accountability and capability.
