At Kmart Group, we’re redefining the way Australia shops — and strategic store planning is central to that journey. As a Store Space Planner, you’ll play a vital role in bringing our product range to life by ensuring every product has a purposeful place across our store network.

Based at Head Office, you’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to adapt and maintain consistent department flows and adjacencies across our store network that support operational efficiency and deliver an exceptional shopping experience.

What you’ll be doing
Â
- Document and maintain macro merchandise space in alignment with Kmart Group’s business direction and best practice store standards.
- Translate macro space allocations into tailored store-specific floorplans at both department and planogram/layout levels, ensuring consistency across new and refurbished stores.
- Balance competing priorities to optimise Stores’—integrating operational needs, product requirements, design principles, safety standards, space constraints, store shape, store sales, inventory levels, customer experience and project budgets.
- Provide implementation support and query resolution for Store Teams and Project Managers.
- Leverage store-specific knowledge to assist internal and external stakeholders with ad hoc projects and initiatives.
- Draw on prior in-store experience to enhance standards and foster a continuous learning environment.
- Work on multiple projects concurrently, meeting critical path deadlines.
- Collaborate with Store Planning, Space, Renewal Operations and Store Operations teams to ensure plans are delivered on time and to a high standard.

To be successful in this role you’ll have:
You’re a detail-oriented planner with a keen passion for puzzles and a strong understanding of how store layouts impact customer experience and operations. You enjoy working with others to solve
problems and deliver high-quality outcomes.

You’ll also bring:
Â
- 1–3 years’ experience in retail, ideally within a discount department store environment.
- Store based experience in layout implementation and merchandising.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel and Office skills.
- Strong organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to prioritise multiple projects.
- Experience with AutoCAD or Spaceman (preferred, though training will be provided).
- The ability to influence and communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
