We're looking for a Senior Store Designer to join our Property team and help shape the future of retail across Kmart Group.

 

In this role, you will create innovative store concepts, fixture solutions, and customer experiences that bring our brands to life. Combining creativity with commercial thinking, you'll design engaging retail environments that seamlessly connect physical and digital touchpoints, enhancing the customer journey and delivering meaningful business outcomes. Collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders, you'll play a key role in influencing how millions of customers experience our stores every week.

 

What you’ll be doing

 

  • Create innovative retail environments that bring the brand to life and deliver an engaging customer experience.
  • Develop and present store concepts and design solutions that align with business objectives and creative expectations.
  • Lead the design and development of new store formats, fixtures and merchandise solutions using 2D and 3D design tools.
  • Lead the testing, refinement and implementation of design concepts within live store environments.
  • Partner with project managers, architects, digital teams, shopfitters and external suppliers to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Drive innovation in customer experience by identifying opportunities to improve the in-store journey.
  • Collaborate with digital and online teams to create seamless customer experiences across physical and digital touchpoints.
  • Incorporate digital solutions into store environments where appropriate.
  • Support the development of design standards, documentation and store design manuals.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and coordinate deliverables to ensure projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.

 

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

  • Proven experience in retail, interior, architectural or spatial design, ideally within a large-scale retail environment.
  • International retail experience is essential.
  • Exceptional drawing, conceptual sketching and visual communication skills.
  • Exceptional capability in 2D and 3D conceptual design, visualisation and design development.
  • A strong understanding of the end-to-end design process and building/project delivery lifecycle.
  • Advanced proficiency in design software, including Adobe Creative Suite and visualisation tools.
  • Experience developing customer-centric retail environments that balance creativity and commercial outcomes.
  • Knowledge of retail trends across general merchandise, apparel and broader customer experience design.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, stakeholders and external consultants simultaneously.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • A collaborative mindset, curiosity and a passion for continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and the ability to deliver high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
