The People & Capability Advisory team provides expert Employee Relations advice and case management support across Kmart and Target, partnering with leaders in stores, distribution centres, fulfilment centres, and support offices across Australia and New Zealand. Supporting a workforce of more than 50,000 team members, the team plays a critical role in helping leaders navigate some of the most complex and sensitive people matters across the Group.Â

As a Senior P&C Advisor within our Tier 2 Advisory team, you'll provide specialist Employee Relations advice and support across Kmart and Target. Partnering with leaders across Australia and New Zealand, you'll help navigate complex workplace matters while balancing people, risk, compliance and commercial outcomes.

Acting as a trusted Employee Relations specialist and key escalation point for complex workplace matters, you'll provide expert guidance on performance, conduct, grievances, workplace risk and compliance obligations. You'll support leaders to navigate some of the organisation's most sensitive and high-impact people issues, helping them make informed decisions and achieve fair, practical and commercially sound outcomes. Working closely with People & Capability Business Partners, Legal teams and senior stakeholders, you'll support and, at times, lead workplace investigations, while influencing decisions across one of Australia's largest employers.

What you’ll be doing:
Â
- Managing complex employee relations matters from assessment through to resolution, including performance, conduct, serious misconduct, and workplace investigations.
- Providing expert advice and coaching to leaders on people-related risks, policies, procedures, and employment obligations.
- Managing high-volume case work across diverse stakeholder groups, balancing competing priorities while maintaining quality and consistency.
- Preparing documentation, recommendations, and supporting materials associated with formal employment processes.
- Supporting employment-related claims, Fair Work matters and other external proceedings, including the preparation of responses, submissions and supporting evidence.
- Partnering closely with P&C Business Partners, Legal, and business leaders to achieve practical and commercially sound outcomes.
- Acting as an escalation point for complex employee relations matters and supporting leaders to manage high-risk, business-critical and sensitive people issues.
- Coaching and mentoring Advisors within the broader P&C Advisory team.
- Building leader capability through coaching, education, and targeted uplift initiatives, equipping leaders to confidently manage people matters and make informed decisions.
- Identifying employee relations trends, emerging risks, and capability gaps, and partnering with stakeholders to develop and implement proactive solutions that strengthen leadership capability and improve people outcomes.

To be successful in the role you’ll have:Â
Â
- Strong Employee Relations or Workplace Relations expertise, or significant experience operating as an HR Generalist or HR Business Partner within a large and complex organisation, with exposure to complex workplace matters.
- Proven experience managing complex workplace matters, including conduct, performance, investigations, grievances, and other sensitive people issues.
- The ability to effectively manage competing priorities and navigate multiple matters simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong judgement, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with the ability to influence outcomes and provide pragmatic, risk-based advice.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, influence and build capability across a broad range of leaders and stakeholders.

Experience supporting complex employment litigation matters and workplace claims will be highly regarded, but not essential.
