We’re looking for a Senior Instructional Designer to join our People & Capability team on a 17-month contract, supporting a major Distribution Centre transformation project across the Kmart Group.

In this role, you’ll have end-to-end responsibility for scoping, designing and delivering high-impact learning solutions that support the rollout of new systems, processes and ways of working within our Distribution Centres. You’ll work closely with operational subject matter experts, project stakeholders and learning partners to translate complex technical content into practical, engaging and learner-focused experiences.

What you’ll be doing

  • Partner with operational SMEs and project stakeholders to analyse learning needs and translate technical and operational processes into clear, engaging and practical learning experiences for new and existing team members and leaders
  • Working closely with the project team to scope, design, develop and deliver end-to-end learning solutions for our Distribution Centre.
  • Create learning pathways and induction programs for the site including safety training and role-based training.
  • Create a variety of learning assets including eLearning, animations, instructional videos, facilitator-led materials (face-to-face and virtual), on-the-job resources, performance support tools and assessments.
  • Apply contemporary instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles to support capability uplift across frontline, technical and leadership audiences.
  • Project-manage multiple learning deliverables concurrently, including planning, scheduling, tracking progress and meeting key project milestones.
  • Ensure all learning solutions align to Kmart Group learning standards, brand guidelines and governance requirements.
  • Support testing, implementation and evaluation of learning solutions, incorporating feedback and insights for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain clear documentation, version control and handover materials to support sustainability beyond the contract period.


To be successful in this role you’ll have:

  • 8+ years experience as an Instructional Designer, delivering end-to-end learning solutions across digital, blended and facilitator-led formats.
  • Strong experience working in project-based environments, ideally within operational, logistics or safety-focused supply chain settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical, operational and safety content into engaging, learner-centred solutions.
  • Sound project management capability, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fixed-term, delivery-focused role.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with confidence partnering with subject matter experts and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong digital capability, including experience using learning authoring tools, learning platforms and content creation technologies.
  • A proactive, adaptable mindset with a strong focus on quality, outcomes and meeting tight timelines.
