Are you ready to take the lead in shaping the next generation of Stores Technology at Kmart Australia? We’re looking for Senior Engineers to join our Digital Stores team—a group that’s driving innovation in retail digitisation. From robotic inventory counting to advanced merchandise tracking, we’re building solutions that put us at the forefront of retail technology.

 

As a Senior Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in designing, building, and delivering solutions that enhance our hand-held devices, optimise inventory, and create a seamless shopping experience for millions of customers and team members. What you’ll be doing 

 

  • Designing and implementing Full Stack Software solutions using React, NodeJS with TypeScript.Providing technical leadership and mentoring to engineers, fostering growth and best practices.
  • Driving delivery through modern DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and automated testing for speed and reliability.
  • Leveraging cloud technologies (AWS) to build scalable, high-performance systems.
  • Architecting and developing APIs using REST for seamless integration across platforms.
  • Championing clean code principles, ensuring maintainability and quality through coding and unit testing.
  • Leading technical design and requirements gathering, influencing the success of major projects.
  • Solving complex challenges with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborating with a talented, innovative team, sharing ideas and shaping solutions that impact millions of customers.
  • Driving innovation, enhancing existing products and developing new features that elevate the customer experience.

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

 

  • Proven experience in Full Stack development using React, Prisma, NestJS, NodeJS with TypeScript.
  • A strong track record of delivering software through modern DevOps practices (CI/CD, automation testing).
  • Leadership skills—you enjoy guiding and mentoring others.
  • Exposure to cloud technologies, preferably AWS.
  • Expertise in API development using REST.
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable code and perform unit testing.
  • Experience maintaining existing products and building new features.
  • Knowledge of NestJS & Prisma is great, but not essential.
  • Bonus points for experience with Java and Spring Boot.
  • Familiarity with relational databases (PostgreSQL or SQL) is highly advantageous.
