Kmart Group is launching a new project to reimagine the shopping experience by moving registers to the front of our stores. This game‑changing initiative is designed to make checkout faster, smoother, and more customer‑friendly than ever before. We’re on the hunt for experienced Project Managers who are ready to lead the charge and bring this vision to life.

With a strong pipeline of new stores and refurbishments, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering projects that elevate customer experience, minimize disruption, and set new benchmarks in quality and efficiency.

 

What you’ll be doing

As a Project Manager, you’ll be responsible for end-to-end delivery of new store and refurbishment projects. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the fit-out of new and refurbished stores to approved program, budget, and scope of works
  • Developing detailed staging plans and coordinating with store operations to minimise disruption
  • Driving value engineering initiatives to reduce capital costs per square metre without compromising quality
  • Overseeing contractors, suppliers, and consultants to ensure timely and high-quality delivery
  • Proactively managing risks, issues, and budgets with clear stakeholder communication
  • Ensuring compliance with OH&S policies, environmental planning acts, and relevant building codes
  • Managing store closures and lease make-good requirements in line with agreements
  • Successfully handing over completed projects to Store Managers and Maintenance team

 

To be successful you’ll have

We’re looking for individuals with strong technical expertise, stakeholder management skills, and a passion for delivering results. You’ll bring:

  • Extensive experience in client-side project management of retail construction and fit-outs
  • Tertiary qualifications in Building, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent (Diploma level desirable)
  • Strong knowledge of the Building Code of Australia, Environmental Planning & Assessment Acts, and relevant standards
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate diverse, multi-disciplinary project teams and external contractors
  • High-level organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines
  • Experience navigating local government approvals processes (development, planning, and construction)
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills with both internal and external stakeholders
  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to build effective teams and foster strong supplier relationships
