We are looking for a highly motivated and talented Product Technologist to join our industry leading team on a 12 month fixed-term contract. We are seeking a Product Technologist in general merchandise, preferably with dining ware, kitchenware and homewares experience, with an engineering skill set. This role is responsible for providing a Quality Support function to the General Merchandise divisions and the management of the overall quality and safety of non-propriety Household products.

What you’ll be doing

As a Product Technologist working for Kmart you will:          

• Provide high level technical advice and expertise to optimise an innovative, significant and growing House Brand strategy
• Partner with the merchandise teams to develop primarily dining ware, kitchenware but also general merchandise products
• Identify and support innovation in terms of new products, ideas and improvements
• Develop, implement, and administration of supplier standards
• Undertake product investigations, technical assessments and provide solutions with aim to resolve quality issues and proactively improving products and ranges
• Partner with Quality Teams in Asia to ensure products launched meet legal, safety and Kmart standards
• Ensure confidence in risk-based responses to product safety and product compliance issues in a dynamic and fast-moving environment
  
  

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

• Qualifications in an Engineering or a related discipline
• Knowledge of manufacturing systems and standards
• Understanding of relevant legislation
• Understanding of commercial retail environments
• Excellent attention to detail
• High level problem solving skills
• Exceptional collaboration and communication skills
