Given the scale, growth ambition, and strategic importance of the Menswear Apparel portfolio, the Planner plays a crucial role in ensuring sales delivery, profitability, and execution against RBU strategy.
This role is accountable for end-to-end commercial planning and has a direct impact on revenue, margin, and inventory outcomes. What you’ll be doing
Â
As a Planner at Kmart, your role is vital to ensuring we have the right stock in the right place at the right time, while understanding the Kmart customer, improving inventory efficiency, and delivering strong commercial outcomes aligned to the broader Kmart strategy.

Key responsibilities includeÂ
Â
- Delivery of RBU sales through customer-focused range and financial strategy
- OTB management, range architecture, and assortment optimisation
- Trade management, minimising markdown exposure, and driving profitability
- Alignment of Menswear category execution to broader RBU strategic priorities
- Managing the merchandise financial plan to achieve sales, profit, stockturn, and ROI budgets
- Forecasting stock requirements to maximise revenue, margin, and stock turn performance
- Trading the business to maximise opportunities and minimise risk
- Working collaboratively with your Buyer and the broader team

Leadership & capability uplift

This role also plays a key leadership and capability uplift function by:
- Supporting the Planning Manager and Business Manager to maximise RBU performance
- Coaching and developing Planning Assistants and junior team members
- Providing day-to-day planning support to ensure disciplined execution and timely decision-making across the RBU

To be successful in this role, you’ll have

We’re looking for a results-focused Planner with experience managing multi-million-dollar portfolios, with the ability to adapt and pivot in a fast-paced environment. You’re customer-led, commercially sharp, and confident partnering with stakeholders across the business.

- Strong commercial acumen and numerical skills, with high attention to detail
- Ability to observe, interpret, and act on trends in customer behaviour
- A highly inquisitive, self-driven mindset with strong organisation skills
- Proven ability to develop accurate financial plans and customer-relevant assortment plans that deliver outcomes
- Confidence quantifying product performance over time (e.g., rate of sale, exit plans, risk/opportunity)
- Proficiency with Excel and business tools (BI tools desirable)
- Planning experience within apparel/soft goods (Menswear preferred; broader category exposure is advantageous)
