We’re now looking for a Merchandise Business Analyst to join our Merchandise Reporting, Data & Platforms team. This is a critical role that supports key business processes across Merchandise and Inventory, while partnering closely with Stores & Operations, Profit Protection, Marketing, IT, Finance and Supply Chain.

What you’ll be doing
Â
In this hands‑on analyst role, you’ll play a key part in maintaining the integrity, quality and usability of merchandise data while enabling accurate reporting and insights across the business.
Â
You will:
- Support critical merchandise and inventory business processes, ensuring strong data integrity and adherence to business rules
- Provide expert advice, SME support and training to merchandise teams across data, platforms and reporting tools
- Maintain and improve key documentation, standards and user manuals to support governance and ways of working
- Manage and analyse large, complex datasets using advanced Excel, SQL and Power BI to support business intelligence outcomes
- Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders including Merchandise, Inventory, Stores & Operations, Profit Protection, Marketing and IT
- Support and enhance merchandise reporting infrastructure and BI solutions in a fast‑paced retail environment
- Play a key role in delivering the new Merchandise Data Strategy, designed to transform how merchandise data is managed across Kmart and Target
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities and help deliver sustainable, value‑adding data solutions

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

- 5–7 years’ experience in a Business Analyst, Merchandise Analyst or similar role within retail
- A strong background in Merchandise and/or Inventory (essential)
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, slicers and macros
- Practical experience writing and interpreting SQL queries
- Capability in Power BI and business intelligence reporting
- Hands‑on experience with merchandise systems and data platforms
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a high‑volume, fast‑paced environment
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate, influence and collaborate across technical and non‑technical teams
- Strong critical thinking, problem‑solving and organisational skills
- A tertiary qualification in Business, Information Technology or a related discipline (preferred)
