We're looking for a strategic and forward-thinking Head of Store Experience, Strategy & Innovation to shape the future of how millions of customers and thousands of team members experience Kmart every day.

 

Reporting to the GM Customer & Team Experience, you'll lead the development and execution of Kmart's future store strategy, bringing together customer experience, team experience and operational excellence to create meaningful impact across our store network. This is a unique opportunity to drive innovation at scale, leveraging emerging technologies, new operating models and continuous improvement initiatives to deliver step-change outcomes for our customers, teams and business.

 

Leading a high-performing team, you'll work across Store Operations, Technology, Supply Chain and broader business functions to identify opportunities, test new ideas and successfully scale initiatives that support Kmart's continued growth as a leading low-cost retailer.

 

What you’ll be doing

 

  • Define and lead Kmart's end-to-end store experience strategy across physical, digital and omnichannel environments.
  • Shape the future store operating model, ensuring customer, team and commercial outcomes remain at the centre of decision making.
  • Lead the innovation portfolio from concept through to pilot, rollout and enterprise-wide adoption.
  • Develop and embed new operating models, products and ways of working that improve productivity, simplicity and store performance.
  • Partner with senior leaders across the business to align investment and resources to the highest-value opportunities.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that simplify store processes, remove complexity and improve team experience.
  • Champion the adoption of AI and emerging technologies to unlock new opportunities and enhance operational performance.
  • Build, develop and inspire a high-performing team while fostering a culture of innovation, accountability and continuous improvement.
     

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

  • Significant experience leading strategy, innovation, transformation or operational excellence programs within a large and complex organisation.
  • A strong background in retail, store operations, customer experience or operational transformation.
  • Demonstrated success leading large-scale initiatives from concept through to implementation and sustained business outcomes.
  • Experience building and leading high-performing teams, with a passion for coaching and developing future leaders.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance customer, team and business outcomes.
  • Proven ability to influence and partner with senior stakeholders across multiple functions and priorities.
  • Experience applying innovation, agile, design thinking, continuous improvement or similar methodologies to solve business challenges.
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to translate future opportunities into practical, scalable solutions.
  • Strong communication and change leadership capabilities, with experience leading through ambiguity and organisational change.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Design, Engineering, Technology or a related discipline will be highly regarded, with postgraduate qualifications viewed favourably.
