What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading Engineering Managers, Delivery Managers, Architects and a broad team of technologists across our online fulfilment and supply chain technology landscape.
  • Driving the transformation of multiple fulfilment platforms and technologies into a modern, efficient, scalable environment that supports future cost‑per‑unit and operational performance targets.
  • Overseeing the rollout and embedding of the next generation fulfilment platform already deployed in parts of the Kmart network, ensuring consistent adoption and strong delivery outcomes.
  • Establishing and uplifting engineering practices, architectural standards, DevOps capability, automation, cloud maturity, and responsible AI usage across teams.
  • Strengthening our fulfilment team by building capability, maturing ways of working, and setting a clear engineering and delivery operating model.
  • Unifying disparate systems and teams into a cohesive engineering and delivery structure that supports end‑to‑end fulfilment.
  • Partnering closely with senior stakeholders across Technology, Supply Chain, Online, Merchandise, Store Operations, and the Executive Team.
  • Managing delivery across a complex portfolio with competing priorities, ensuring teams deliver reliably, on time, and at quality.
  • Providing technical and delivery leadership through a period of legacy remediation and platform uplift.
  • Coaching and developing leaders, building succession depth, and uplifting the broader engineering and delivery capability.

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

  • Extensive experience in leadership across engineering and delivery.
  • Strong technical foundations and the credibility to engage deeply with senior engineers, architects, and delivery leaders.
  • Proven experience leading transformation across complex technology environments with multiple platforms or legacy estates.
  • High learning agility, with the ability to step confidently into new domains such as fulfilment, supply chain, or logistics.
  • Exceptional communication skills and executive presence, with the confidence to engage directly with C‑suite and board‑level stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through ambiguity, lifting capability and culture in maturing teams.
  • Experience in large retail, ecommerce, international organisations, or businesses operating across multiple markets is highly advantageous.
  • Strong grounding in modern engineering practices, architecture alignment, cloud, DevOps, automation, and continuous improvement.
  • Appetite for and experience with AI, GenAI, or AI‑enabled engineering/delivery tooling.
  • Integrity, sound judgement, and the ability to have direct, constructive conversations when needed.
  • Experience managing vendors, partners, or offshore delivery teams, ideally including exposure to India or similar global engineering locations.
