Kmart Group are looking for an experienced and passionate Employee Relations Advisor to join our People & Capability team. In this role, you'll partner with leaders across the business to deliver expert advice, support complex ER matters, and contribute to key initiatives that shape a fair, compliant and high‑performing workplace.

Please note this is a 12-month fixed term contract.


What you’ll be doing

As an Employee Relations Advisor working for Kmart you will:     

  • Manage employment litigation matters, including representing the business before the Fair Work Commission and other tribunals.
  • Provide practical, commercial and compliant employee relations advice to support business initiatives, projects and operations.
  • Ensure compliance with industrial instruments, workplace laws and internal policies.
  • Support end‑to‑end Enterprise Bargaining processes, including planning, negotiation, rollout and implementation.
  • Conduct and support workplace investigations and guide P&C teams on resolving ER issues and complaints.
  • Partner with P&C teams to deliver ER capability uplift through training and coaching of line managers.
  • Contribute to group-wide compliance activities, including proactive reviews and payroll remediation support.
  • Coordinate the delivery of cyclical ER activities and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
     

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Law, IR or HR (postgraduate studies in Employment Law highly regarded).
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Employee Relations or Industrial Relations roles.
  • Demonstrated experience in enterprise bargaining, negotiation and end‑to‑end EA processes.
  • Experience in employment and industrial law regulatory compliance review programs.
  • Experience in industrial advocacy before tribunals and working with unions and regulatory bodies.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategic ER plans and deliver ER advice across varied business contexts.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leaders.
  • Experience conducting workplace investigations and resolving complex ER matters.
  • Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work autonomously in a fast‑paced environment.
