What You’ll Be Doing
Â
At Kmart, design is at the heart of everything we do. We’re looking for a talented and trend‑driven Designer – General Merchandise to join our fast‑paced design team, creating exciting, customer‑focused ranges across Entertainment, Party, Active, Travel & Luggage, and Pets.
This is an incredible opportunity for a commercially minded designer who thrives on variety, loves translating trends into standout product, and enjoys working closely with Buyers to bring ranges to life.

As a Designer working for Kmart you will:Â Â Â
Â
- Design original, on‑trend and affordable product ranges that reflect Kmart’s distinctive handwriting
- Own end‑to‑end product development, from concept through to production
- Translate global trends into clear seasonal direction across multiple categories
- Create compelling graphic design, print and pattern artwork
- Develop accurate technical drawings, specs and production art
- Partner closely with Buyers and cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced environment
- Present concepts clearly and confidently to stakeholders

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:
Â
- Proven experience designing general merchandise product ranges, ideally across multiple categories
- Strong trend forecasting capability, with the ability to translate trends into seasonal, commercial product
- Solid product development experience, from concept through to production
- Strong graphic design skills, including print, pattern and artwork execution
- High proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- A commercial, customer‑focused mindset with strong aesthetic judgement
- Ability to work closely with Buyers and cross‑functional partners
- Confidence operating in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment, managing multiple deadlines
- A design portfolio showcasing your product, trend and graphic design capability
