We're looking for an experienced Compliance & Privacy Specialist to help shape and strengthen our privacy and compliance programs across one of Australia's largest retail groups.

This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in one of the most critical and rapidly evolving areas of risk management. You'll partner with leaders across the business to drive privacy compliance, support data protection initiatives, and ensure our compliance frameworks remain effective, practical and fit for purpose.

Working within the Risk & Compliance team, you'll have broad exposure to privacy, consumer law, product safety and regulatory compliance programs, while helping protect the trust our customers place in us every day.
What you’ll be doing
Â
As our Compliance & Privacy Specialist, you'll be responsible for supporting and enhancing privacy and compliance practices across the business, including:
Â
- Leading and supporting Privacy Impact Assessments across key projects, initiatives and business changes.
- Providing practical advice and guidance on privacy, data protection and broader compliance obligations.
- Monitoring privacy risks, incidents, complaints and trends, helping identify opportunities to strengthen controls and reduce risk exposure.
- Developing and delivering compliance plans, risk assessments and assurance programs across a broad compliance landscape.
- Supporting the ongoing development and improvement of the Compliance Management Framework and governance processes.
- Maintaining compliance registers, policies, procedures, training materials and governance documentation.
- Working closely with stakeholders to embed privacy and compliance obligations into business processes and decision-making.
- Executing assurance activities and control assessments to ensure regulatory obligations are met and risks are effectively managed.
- Leveraging governance, risk and compliance systems to provide meaningful reporting, insights and continuous improvement opportunities.

To be successful in this role you’ll have:
- Demonstrated experience in privacy, compliance, risk, governance or assurance roles.
- Strong working knowledge of privacy legislation, data protection principles and privacy risk management frameworks.
- Experience conducting Privacy Impact Assessments and advising stakeholders on privacy-related risks and obligations.
- Understanding of the Australian regulatory environment, particularly the Privacy Act, consumer protection and retail compliance obligations.
- Experience developing and delivering assurance programs, risk assessments and compliance monitoring activities.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical business outcomes.
- Strong analytical capabilities with excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Excellent written communication skills, including policy development, reporting and executive-level communications.
- A curious mindset, strong sense of accountability and passion for continuous improvement.
- Tertiary qualifications in Law, Risk, Governance, Commerce, Business, Internal Audit or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
