Due to an internal promotion, we are excited to share that we are looking for an amazing, people focused Safety Manager to join our operational safety team.Â
Â
Our Health and Safety team is made up of passionate and people-centred individuals who strive to support our stores and DCs to elevate the Safety and Wellbeing of their people every hour, every day.Â
Our NSW / ACT Operational Safety Manager reports into our National Operational Safety Manager and is responsible for the Safety of our 113 Target and Kmart stores across NSW / ACT.  This role is supported by a NSW/ACT Safety Advisor and 2 State based Injury and Wellbeing Advisors. Â

This role is based in Sydney and will be required to travel regularly to our stores in NSW / ACT.

What you’ll be doing
Â
You will be joining the Kmart Group in our most transformative year as we finalise the alignment between Kmart and Target Safety Standards, Systems and Training. Within the State, your day-to-day will include:
Â
- Delivery of Kmart Safety Strategy for NSW / ACT – empowerment of leaders and our SafeSpace Action Squad (our proactive safety committees), hands on support for our Higher Risk stores, delivery of risk mitigation initiatives.
- Conduct onsite investigations for high risk events.
- Monitor site incidents and provide thorough analysis, with a solution focused approach.
- Conduct risk assessments and make recommendations.
- Verify Critical Risk standards in store (assurance program)
- Partner collaboratively with our State Operations Manager, our Zone Managers and our Store Managers across NSW / ACT to embed a strong proactive health and safety culture.

To be successful in this role you’ll have
Â
- A passion for coaching and empowering people to promote safety and wellbeing
- Experience in managing a multi-site environment (preferred)
- A Diploma or Certificate 4 in Workplace Health & Safety.
- Proven experience in driving a strong investment in Lead Safety metrics across operations
- Sound knowledge of ASNZS4801, ISO31000 and legislative provisions around duty of care and reasonably practicable.
- Relevant experience dealing with safety regulators, notifiable incidents and navigating the incident management process.
- Critical Risk experience (preferred).
- ICAM (Incident Cause Assessment Methodology) experience
