We are looking for a Sourcing Merchandiser to join our Apparel team. The ideal candidate will take full ownership of the assigned business category and manage all aspects of the process—from sourcing to production (End to end). The candidate should have strong product knowledge, particularly in Kidswears – Sleepwear, underwear & Socks. We’re seeking someone who is adaptable to change and able to work in alignment with the company’s strategic direction.

 

What will you do?

Sample Execution - Anko is reliant on great collaboration between buyers, designers and sourcing merchants to ensure complete alignment on product vision of the buying portfolio, allowing the merchant to choose the right manufacturing partners to execute our samples accurately. The merchandiser must leverage global insights and design capability of supplier base to complement and enhance the buyer & designer’s product vision.

 

Supplier Strategy - The merchandiser is responsible for ensuring high-quality suppliers are available to support our strategic aspirations. This requires ongoing work in understanding developments in the manufacturing base within the region to keep suppliers sharp and honest. We believe in building long-term relationships with a narrower set of key supply partners who show continuous high performance to our delivery, ethical and quality standards as well as price/sample expectations.

 

Lowest Cost - Pricing is critical deciding factor in business, hence the merchandiser must operate in high visibility and complex competitive negotiations and seek to optimise price by leveraging effective negotiation strategies with suppliers and seek continuous improvement with manufacturing counterparts. The merchandiser role is responsible for price negotiations, and therefore directly accountable for FOB price and margin outcomes of the buying portfolio assigned.

 

Delivery - This role is required to help improve delivery accuracy and production timelines of our supplier base. We need suppliers who can respond fast to sales trends and understands the value in short lead times.

 

Communication & People Management - The role is a key collaborator between buying, quality, supply chain and sourcing team and requires great communication and interpersonal skills. The merchandiser is responsible for ensuring strong collaboration with suppliers and buying teams alike, utilize tools such as Time-and-Action (TNA) model to ensure accurate order tracking. The merchandiser must seek to resolve all escalated issues, or seek timely guidance form the Assistant Merchandise Manager.

 

What are we looking for?

  • Minimum of 5-6 years of relevant experience in a sourcing office
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and oral
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Skilled in data management systems, costing sheets, etc.
  • Familiarization with software such as GBSS, DSS+/PLM etc
