Team name: Merchandise & Supply Chain

Merchandise & Supply Chain provides capability of IT product development for Sourcing, Merchandizing, and Inventory functions of the Kmart Group's Retail business. The team generates insights that enables business teams to make critical decisions.

Primary Purpose

  • To ensure the team has sufficient understanding of the business value to be created, identifying where experimentation and learning is necessary in a blameless environment that supports continuous learning and adaption. To coach team members and help identify and address capability gaps, impediments (Risks) and blockers (Issues), maintaining an alignment to the product vision, reduced waste and rework, a healthy sustainable pace and a team's ability to self-organise.
  • Maintain reliable team telemetry for business reporting and to drive internal improvement.
  • To support the development of the team members to understand and apply increased levels of agility with effective measurement, guided by the organisations values and principles, standards, policies and guidelines and new ways of working ensuring the right balance between the work delivered with the way it is delivered, assisting the Product Owner to maintain a prioritized backlog and remove impediments.
  • To act in the service of a team, to guide and lead the creation of a high performing team in the delivery of the Kmart's goals with a focus on regular and continuous delivery of business value increments whilst maintaining a positive, nurturing, collaborative and inclusive team culture.

Technical Skills

  • Sufficient understanding of organisation dynamics to coach and mentor the team and assist in overcoming roadblocks.
  • Demonstrable experience applying pragmatic decision making on the ways of working required to achieve team goals (including but not limited to an understanding of Estimation, WSJF, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, Continuous Deployment, Continuous Testing, TDD, ATDD, User Story Slicing and Kanban
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate the appropriate ceremonies and additional collaboration needs to execute on a business strategy and the primary mission of the team.
  • Demonstrable experience working in structured Agile teams as an Iteration Manager or Scrum Master with virtual or distributed teams.
  • Deep understanding of Kmart's Agile methodologies and alternative new ways of working including fostering a scrum-based planning and value delivery method

Traits/Abilities

  • Additional self-learning development (including certifications where possible) to broaden their ability to influence and lead.
  • Significant experience working in a large organisation, preferably retail with demonstrable examples as to how to influence change within the larger organisation.
  • Intuitive and perceptive with outstanding communications skills and demonstrable strength in articulating ways of measuring and communicating out with the team with strong natural analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a business-related or technology related role
  • Strong leadership abilities to motivate and empower others.
  • Fosters a low cost, high velocity mindset and culture whereby the team does its utmost to reduce costs; return technical debt (anything that holds us back); and increases the speed with which we deliver Innovation and Solutions to our end customer with quality built in throughout the delivery process.
  • High level of flexibility and a willingness to adapt as required.
